This is a magnificent scene! I have it as the
wallpaper on my desktop and it is very inspiring! And it doesn't
hurt that I actually saw the real thing.
It was a Father-Son trip that I crashed - 3 families from Minnesota
spent a week in the canoe wilderness area in north Minnesota/south
Ontario. Awesome! |

| Here's where we started: Crane Lake,
MN. A hired boat would transport us some 45 miles
"upstream" - further away from civilization. |
Here's our whole group - here we are eager,
fresh, clean and excited. By the end of the day, we were just
hungry and tired. |
| We were in two-man canoes, except for the
Fordice Threesome. They thought they were the fastest canoe. |
Here's a pretty scene toward sunset from our
campsite. |
| I shared a canoe with Stephen (right).
He was a great paddler and partner. |
Of course the goal of all this work was
fishing - fishing like few other places. Drop your line in and
something is bound to strike and quick. Locals call our fishing
spot "the meathole." |
| Another picture of peace and calm. It
was a relaxing break. |
Here a few of us gather around the breakfast
"table" for some Tang. |
| I even caught a few fish. This is a
smallmouth bass. I caught one that measured 22 inches! |
Here Jeff fries up some potatoes and onions,
to go with the walleye. Bob's pancakes and bacon breakfasts were
some of the best breakfasts I've ever had. |
