Update 8/21/06: We've just added some new pictures of our summer visit to the States.  The kids are getting bigger and can do more things which makes life more interesting.  The summer war with Lebanon did not affect us; part of the time we were in the U.S. and the other part we were at home which is a long ways from where the missiles were landing.  We never heard or saw a thing.

The boys are moving up to second grade next week and Bethany is wondering when she gets to start school (one more year until kindergarten).  With all of the competition, Katie has been slower to talk but is starting to have her voice heard.

Updates on this webpage have been getting less frequent, but you can check Todd's blog (www.toddbolen.com) for more from his perspective.

We also periodically send out a family update with prayer requests.  You can request to be on that list with an email to bolenupdate at bibleplaces.com.

Boundary Waters Fishing in the wilderness

Oregon, for us, means swimming.  Mark loves to jump off the diving board.  Katie needs some "encouragement" to get in the water.

Luke looks like he's got the pool thing figured out.  But as for diving, he needs a little help.

We should sign up for the father-son synchronized diving event in the Olympics.   In Illinois, Grandpa took the boys fishing.  Here Luke makes sure to stay away from the water's edge.

Our annual trip to Blackberry Farm included a train ride at the beginning of the day and a train ride at the end of the day.   Bethany may have a future in pony riding.

Grandpa took the kids to a minor league baseball game.  Just so you know how clueless our kids are, the boys didn't know what "beer" is.  (It was $1 beer night and it was flowing freely.)   Grandma got to hold Katie at the waterski show.  Dad unfortunately did not participate.

Wheeeee!

Whack!

When you're this good, you have to hit the ball with your eyes closed!

That was a little ball popper upper.  Luke got a bit excited.

Bethany was born in the U.S. but hasn't had a birthday there since.   At the pizza party, Katie went for a ride.
