| Todd spent a couple of his days in Iowa traveling around
the areas where his family lived around the turn of the century (1900)
and before. He found a lot of important places for his family's
history. |

| This farm south of Grinnell, Iowa is the one
where his grandma grew up. The barn and silo in the center are the
original ones. |
After Great-Grandpa passed away, the family
left the farm and moved into Oskaloosa. This is the house where
they lived. |
| Todd met his dad's cousin Bill and they
talked about the old days (ok, Bill talked and Todd listened :-)). |
This was the house Great-Grandma and Aunt
Georgiana were living in when they passed away in the 40s. |
| Grandma went to nursing school here, before it
did what all too many schools are doing these days in calling themselves
universities. |
The elusive Sugar Creek Cemetery is where
many of the ancestors were buried. Todd's grandma said it was in
the middle of the cornfields and she wasn't kidding (it's the brown spot
in the center of the picture). |

| Here's a view of the small church
cemetery. The Friends Church that stood in front has since been
torn down. |
Dr. Barclay Hinchman is Todd's
great-great-grandfather. He was born in 1817 and did some
preaching in the area. |
| In another cemetery in New Sharon, Iowa are
the headstones of other ancestors. Ephron Osborne and Hannah Jane
Quaintance are great-great-grandparents. |
William Carey and Mariah McBride Quaintance
are great-great- great-grandparents! The records go back further
than that, but those folks aren't buried in Iowa. |
