Update 10/5
10:45 pm. Maybe it is the Lord's will to take Timothy to
heaven, and if so, we will honor Him. But like David, we will pray
desperately while there is still time and hope that the Lord would heal
our baby. There were several signs today that are not good, chief
of which is that his kidneys are not working well. Timothy's
tissues are more swollen and he is urinating almost nil. The
doctors have him on "maximum support" and the medicines are
not having the intended effect.
The doctors have more extreme measures
they will consider taking if Timothy doesn't improve in the next day or
two. Ask God to do what the doctors and the medicines can't and to
make Timothy's body work like it needs to.
Update 10/6
6:15 pm. Because Timothy's kidneys are not working properly, they are putting him on dialysis this evening. This is a
risky procedure for a baby his size. They will put a catheter in
his neck which will pull blood out and cleanse it (doing what the
kidneys are supposed to do). Key concern is that his blood
pressure not drop; if it does and they can't control it, they will stop
the dialysis. We'll post an update later this evening when we know
how it is going.
Update 10/6
6:45 pm. Before they started dialysis, Timothy had an
"event" in which his heart stopped. Doctor called (us in
Camarillo) and while on the phone said that heart started back but blood
pressure extremely low. Don't know if he'll make it. We're
going to UCLA now...
Update
10/7 12:45 am.
Dear friends, our precious Timothy is
with Jesus now. Tonight his heart stopped and for an hour the
doctors worked to save his life but it was not God's will.
He passed away at 7:47 pm.
The pain is deep and intense, but we do
not doubt God and we do not question God. We can say both that
there's never been a harder time in our lives AND that God is good
always and he is good today. We would have picked another way; we
begged God for another way. But we told God that his way, whatever
that was, was better than our way. And we still believe that now.
As we drove home we listened to songs
with lyrics like "Better by far is your presence" and
"Now I am longing for the time when I will see Your holy holy
majesty" and "See the name of Jesus lifted high above all
things." Words like these help put things in
perspective. I don't know that it will diminish our time of grief,
but we are confident that in the end we will be rejoicing in a sovereign
and good Father.
It is our prayer that God is glorified
through Timothy and his life and his death. We pray that God is
exalted in your own response to this difficult news. We thank you
so much for praying for us this last month.
