Unless someone lets something slip beforehand, I’m sure that all eyes will be on Dr. Haggai Misgav’s presentation “The Ostracon (the New Inscription) from Khirbet Qeiyafa” for from it we may finally learn something definite about the language and contents of the ostracon. As late as December 10, 2008, David Willner (of Foundation Stone) reported on the Elah Fortress Blog that “the shard with the text remains shrouded in mystery. Dr. Misgav sat with Professor Garfinkel last night and we hope to have some really surprising things to say soon.” As Dr. Misgav is the epigraphist invited to decipher and publish the ostracon, one can hope that his presentation will be full of information and not merely a reprise of what’s already known with a promise of future revelations.
Do you know if these lectures will be in English or Hebrew? I am currently here in Israel and am considering going to them.
Jeff – I would be surprised if the lectures are not in Hebrew.
